제목 Immobilization of folic acid on the surface of gold nanoparticles and their interaction with KB cell
초록 Hydrophilic and nontoxic mercaptosuccinic acid (M)-coated gold nanoparticles (MGNP) were prepared and characterized by TEM and DLS. M was used to improve biocompatibility, monodispersity and non-specific intracellular uptake of nanoparticles. Folic acid (FA) was subsequently conjugated to the mercaptosuccinic acid to preferentially target KB cells (epithelial cancer cells) those have folate receptors expressed on their surfaces and facilitate the transit of nanoparticles across the cell membrane. Finally, fluorescence cyanine dye (Cy5 dye) was added to the nanoparticles to visualize the nanoparticle internalization into KB cells. After culture of the cells in a media containing the MGNP and FA- conjugated MGNP (FMGNP), the interaction of surface- modified gold nanoparticles with KB cells was studied.
