Cyclopolymerization of N-containing 1,6-Heptadiyne Derivatives with pH-responsive Moieties |

Metathesis cyclopolymerization is a useful method to polymerize monomers with vulnerable moieties in other polymerization conditions. In this research, we intended to polymerize N-containing 1,6-heptadiyne derivatives with maleic acid anhydride derivatives by cyclopolymerization using a ruthenium-based catalyst. Since a maleic acid amide derivative with an α-β-cis-double bond has a pH-responsive degradability at weakly acidic pH, the polymer with the maleic anhydride moieties can be grafted with amine-containing molecules easily and release the grafted molecules in a pH-dependent manner. The solubility and polymerizability can be controlled by optimizing the linkers between the heptadiyne and maleic anhydride moieites. The polymer could be applied to smart drug delivery system by introducing pH-responsive drugs by simple grafting onto the polymer. |
