Dinuclear Constrained Geometry Catalyst (DCGC) with the xylene bridges {TiCl2[N(tert-butyl) Si(Me)2]C9H5}2 {CH2[(C6H13)2C6H2]CH2} was prepared by treating two equivalents of TiCl3(THF)3 with the corresponding tetralithium salt of ligand followed by oxidation by AgCl. DCGC catalyst was characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. To study the catalyst behavior of the dinuclear catalyst, we conducted copolymer of ethylene and styrene in the presences of MMAO cocatalyst at the various reaction conditions such as reaction time, reaction temperature, ratio of cocatalyst, ratio of styrene, etc. It was observed that the activity of the catalysts increases with an increase in polymerization temperature, the [Al]/[Ti] ratio from 2000 to 4000 and the concentration of styrene. In addition, the catalytic properties of catalysts were investigated through the analysis of molecular weight and melting point of polymers and the comparison with Dow CGC. |
