제목 Oxidation behaviors of microplastics in water during UV photolysis and ozonation
초록 Microplastics (MPs) are contaminants of emerging concern, which have been continuously accumulated and spread in different environmental media. MPs have been found in seawater, surface and ground waters, and wastewater, posing a threat to public health and aquatic environment. In spite of increasing number of MP studies, there have been limited studies on the oxidation behaviors of MPs in water and wastewater treatment processes. In this study, we investigated the oxidation behaviors of MPs during UV photolysis and ozonation. Five materials of MPs most frequently found in aquatic environment (i.e., PP, PE, PS, PVC, and PET) were chosen for experiment. After undergoing oxidation, changes in adsorption behavior, particle size distribution, mass loss, DOC, zeta potential, and surface functional groups of MPs were observed.
