Study on Interactions between cell and Polymer-coated Atomic Force Microscopy Probe |

A study on cellular interactions (such as quantified cell adhesion, cell aggregation or direct drug injection theory) is important in microbiology, medicine and biotechnology. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) is a powerful tool for measuring the cellular interaction force between a single cell and AFM probe. Using this system, researchers have studied the interaction forces between cell membrane and biomaterial coated AFM tip on a single cell. Herein, we present a new and simple method that uses E-beam irradiation to fabricate the polymer-coated Dip-Pen Nanolithography (DPN) probe. Using polymer-coated DPN probe, we have generated patterns of fluorescent materials. We also show how to capture a single cell and directly inject a target material into the cell by polymer-coated AFM tip. All analyses were performed using atomic force microscopy, confocal microscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM). This was supported by Korea National University of Transportation in 2018. |
