제목 | Critical role of surface ad-layers for efficient CuFeO2 photocathode for fuel conversion |
초록 | Because of the global energy and environmental crisis, interest in clean and renewable energy is increasing. Photo-electrochemical fuel production such as water-splitting and CO2 reduction could be the most promising technique since it costs the least of electrical energy to convert water and CO2 into hydrogen gas and various fuels with aid of sunlight. Herein, CuFeO2 delafossite material was chosen as a p-type semiconductor photocathode. Despite of proper band gap and band edge position, there has been few reports for the use of photocathodes since photo-activity is very low in water-splitting and CO2 reduction system due to the surface charge trapping into lower mid-gap state. To handle this limitation, n-type TiO2 compact buffer layer was introduced to rapidly extract photo-generated charges from conduction band of CuFeO2. In addition to this, amorphous SnOx prepared by deep UV/O3 illumination was deposited to prevent CuFeO2 from being corroded. |
