제목 Hydrophilic surface modification of Poly-L-lactide (PLLA) microsphere for dermal filler application
초록 PLLA is a synthetic biodegradable polymer which can be naturally degraded in human body. Such property makes PLLA useful for applications in dermal fillers, where the injected material requires to be safely removed without any surgical incision. Despite of its advantages, it’s relatively hydrophobic surface makes cell adhesion difficult and hinder attachment of macrophage and fibroblasts, which are crucial cells that play important role in collagen regeneration. In this study, PLLA microsphere was treated with plasma for surface treatment in order to increase hydrophilicity of the PLLA microsphere. For surface modification, a new dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) type plasma device, and specific conditions such as the type of gas, power applied, pressure, and flow rate were varied to optimize plasma treatment effect. We hope that plasma surface modification technique opens up new possibility in this area.
