Highly conductive and nonvolatile polymer gel electrolytes based on ionic liquids, known as ionogels or ion gels, have attracted significant research attention as promising candidates for various electrochemical devices due to their outstanding properties including negligible vapor pressure, wide electrochemical stability window, high ionic mobility, and high specific capacitance. The resulting ion gels were successfully employed in flexible supercapacitors as electrolyte membranes primarily due to their wide electrochemical stability window. By using the ion gel electrolytes energy, storage performance of the supercapacitor was significantly improved. These ion gels were also incorporated in electrolyte gated thin-film transistors as a gate dielectric layer because of their high capacitance originated from the nanometer-thick electrical double layers. Ion gel gated thin-film transistors operated at low voltages below 1 V with high on/off current ratios. |
