Photocatalytic fibers were generated from the continuous evaporation of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) through a flame burner. The nanotitanosilicate prepared by three different carrier gases (air, N2, and Ar) were tested for their photocatalytic ability to remove/oxidize elemental mercury. Under UV black light, the Hg0 removal efficiencies were 77.6, 86.2, and 84.5% for air, N2, and Ar, respectively. In case of air, the value was close to 90% even under fluorescent light. |
