Nowadays, many styrene type polymers are widely used in functionalization by sulfonation. In this study, we've used high impact polystyrene to make cation exchange membrane. It's applied in electrodialysis, diffusion dialysis, continuous dialysis, fuel cell and the others. The HIPS membranes were prepared by post-sulfonation reaction using the concentration sulfuric acid in the room temperature. The membrane's chemical structure was investigated by FT-IR spectrometer and the ion-exchange capacity, water uptake and electrical resistance were obtained via wet chemical analysis methods. Their value were 1.5meq/g, 15% and 40Ω㎠, respectively. |
