제목 Selective and Efficient Synthesis of Each Isomer of the 2,6-Dimethylnaphthalene Triad
초록 We have recently reported a selective and efficient synthesis for 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene (2,6-DMN) that is a key raw material for the high-performance engineering polymer, poly(ehtylene) naphthalate (PEN). Using this method, we could also prepare each of the 2,6-DMN triad isomers such as 1,5-DMN and 1,6-DMN independently without regioisomers.
The ligand-free Heck reaction of 2-bromotoluene with 4-penten-2-ol or 2-methyl-3-buten-1-ol produced 5-(o-tolyl)pentan-2-one or 2-methyl-4-(o-tolyl)butanal, which was cyclized with acid to give 1,5-DMN or 1,6-DMN, respectively, as a single isomers.
