제목 Structural adhesives for bonding dissimilar materials in automobiles
초록 The weight reduction of automobiles is being continuously studied to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by improved fuel efficiency and to increase the mileage of electric vehicles. One of the solutions to lightening automobiles is to use lightweight materials such as Al, Mg, plastics, and fiber reinforced plastics (FRP). However, FRP cannot be joined by welding and mechanical fastening, which causes stress concentration and destruction of the base material. Therefore, adhesive bonding has been attempted because it can solve the stress concentration problem by distributing the load over a large area. Structural adhesives used for bonding lightweight materials are generally divided into epoxy resin-based and polyurethane-based adhesives. The former is a high-strength/high-impact adhesive, and the latter is applied to areas requiring good resistance to deformation or cold temperature. In this presentation, the development of polyurethane-based adhesives will be discussed in more detail.
