In this study we propose the successful synthesis of a novel diurea bridged periodic mesoporous organosilica derived from a heterocyclic compound, piperazine. The well known sol-gel method has been utilized for the co-condensation of N,N””-Bis(triethoxysilyl)propyl-N”,N”’-piperazine diurea (BPDU) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) under acidic conditions using P123 as organic template. The organic disilanes diurea precursor has been characterized by liquid 1H & 13C NMR spectroscopies. The synthesized mesoporous material were thoroughly characterized by small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier-transform infra-red spectroscopy (FT-IR), solid state 29Si & 13C CP-MAS NMR spectroscopies, N2-adsorption-desorption isotherm and TG-DTA analysis. This kind of materials is expecting to find possible application in ion supporting, drug delivery and catalysis. |
