제목 Effect of various catalyst loading of IrO2 in catalyst coated titanium porous transport layer (PTL) on the PEMWE performance
초록 PTL contributes to the heat and charge transfer, is also related to the mass transport of water and product gases in the PEMWE. In anodic condition (high current density, acidic environment, high temperature), titanium PTL could be degraded due to the oxidation of Ti. A protective layer is needed to prevent that degradation. In this study, by changing the IrO2 catalyst loading in the spray-coating process, three samples with different catalyst loading (0.45, 0.6, 1.1mg/cm2) and pristine PTL were investigated to evaluate the effect of catalyst loading on the electrolysis performance. The impedance results and polarization curves showed that the coated PTLs had better performance than the pristine PTL, and the cell performance increased with the increase of IrO2 loading on the coated PTL. In addition, the effect of different operating temperatures (50, 60, 70, 80oC) was investigated. The Tafel plots showed that the performance of the PEM cell became better at high operating temperatures.
