Mussel inspired adhesive materials have been widely investigated as promising materials for biomedical applications due to the adhesion properties via catechol-based reactions in wet conditions. In addition, the catechol groups can physically interaction with various substrates through π-π stacking, cation-π interaction, and hydrogen bonding. In this study, IPN-structured hydrogels were fabricated with polyacrylamide(PAAm) and mussel inspired copolymers, that conjugation of catechol group was induced physical crosslinking onto the acrylamide backbone without the external stimuli. The IPN-structured PAAm mussel inspired copolymer hydrogel exhibited significantly toughness and highly adhesiveness on the various substrate. Collectively, the PAAm-mussel inspired copolymers IPN hydrogel with adhesive properties may have potential to the biomaterials field. |
