제목 CFD simulation of gas-liquid slurry bubble column under ambient, middle and high pressures
초록 A gas-liquid Eulerian computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model coupled with a population balance equation (PBE) was presented to investigate hydrodynamics of a bubble column in terms of pressure drop, gas holdup, mean bubble size, and specific bubble surface area. Two different types of gas distributor (uniform and real) were accounted for in the CFD domain. In the homogenous bubbly flow regime, the CFD results were compared with experimental data obtained from a bench-scale cylindrical bubble column (1.8 m in height and 0.1 m in inner diameter) in an air-water system at P=1, 15, and 35 bar. Adjusting the initial bubble size of the uniform gas distributor and the range of bubble sizes, the simulation results accorded well with the experimental data. For a H2/CH4 mixture and vacuum residue oil system at 160 bar, 430 oC and a superficial gas velocity of 25 mm/s, the gas holdup and specific bubble surface area were estimated to 0.1 and 110 m2/m3, respectively.
