Instead of I-/I3--based volatile liquid electrolyte, ionic conductors, 1,3-dimethylimidazolium iodide (DMII) and 1,4-dimethyl-4H-1,2,4-triazolium iodide (DMTI), were applied as a non-volatile hole transporting material in combination with metal complex to fabricate solid state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSSCs). A DMII-based ssDSSC showed a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.59%, resulting from 18.18 mA/cm2 of the short-circuit current (Jsc), 0.598 V of the open-circuit voltage (Voc) and 42.25 % of fill factor (FF). On the other hand, the PCE of a DMTI-based ssDSSC was sharply decreased to 0.01% (Jsc=0.068 mA/cm2, Voc= 0.690 V and FF = 22.90 %) due to a significant drop in both Jsc and FF. |
