To enhance PVA degrading rate, nine species of microbes were isolated from dyeing wastewater. Single species and combinations of the isolated microbes were tested for finding optimal PVA degrading microbes. 62% PVA was degraded by single species, and 96% by combination of two species, at maximum. During experiment, we found that the OPY1 species was composed with three different microbes which named as PY1, PY2, and PY3. The results of further study with three species showed that 48% PVA was degraded by PY1 species, 78% by the combination of PY2 and PY3 species, and 41% by the combination of three species. Combination experiments of PY1, PY2, and PY3 species were performed. As a result, 96% PVA was degraded when all three species were inoculated as 1:1:10 volume ratio. Finally, PY1, PY2, and PY3 species were identified and renamed as bacillus-1, brevibacillus, and bacillus-2, respectively. Then it was concluded that PVA was degraded efficiently when PY1, PY2, and PY3 species exist at some optimal amount of each inoculums in the broth. |
