Hot deformation behaviors of Al-8.0Zn-2.5Mg-2.0Cu (wt. %) alloy |

Hot compression test of Al-8.0Zn-2.5Mg-2.0Cu alloy was carried out on a thermo-mechanical simulator (Thermacmaster-Z) over the temperature range from 300ºC to 450ºC and strain rate from 0.001 s-1 to 1 s-1. The processing map was established to study on the workability of the alloy, and the processing map at the strain of 0.7 exhibited three stable domains with high efficiency (>30%), which exhibited good hot workability for Al-8.0Zn-2.5Mg-2.0Cu alloy. The level of dynamic recrystallization increased with increasing of deformation temperature or decreasing of strain rate. The dynamic recrystallization (DRX) easily occurred at low ln Z values, and the dynamic recovery (DRV) was predominant at high ln Z values (ln Z higher than 26.788). Some fine DRX grains around large particles were presented after the hot deformation. Meanwhile, the P texture and R-cube texture were observed in the deformed samples, which indicated the particle stimulated nucleation (PSN) of recrystallization was also occurred in the alloy during hot deformation. |
