제목 Fabrication of p-Cu2O / n-ZnO nanowire multidimensional oxide solar cell grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition
초록  Solar energy production is fast becoming a vital source of renewable energy being developed as an alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based sources of power. Among the lots of the candidates for alternative energy resources, infinite solar energy is receiving the attentions for the eco-friendly resource. Solar cell is a way to generate the electric energy directly from the light. Electron hole pairs (EHP) are generated by incident light with higher energy than band-gap of the active layer in solar cell.
There are a lot of types in solar cell classified by materials into silicon solar cell, compound solar cell and organic solar cell. In solar cell industry, silicon solar cells account for more than 95 % of the world production and single crystalline silicon solar cell shows the efficiency around 20 %. However, the price of the silicon is rapidly increasing and rigid single crystalline silicon is too fragile to keep safe from the environment. Among the inorganic materials proposed as a PV alternative to silicon, cuprous oxide (Cu2O) is one of the most extensively studied,6 with investigations stretching back more than 20 years. As-made Cu2O is a p-type semiconductor with a band gap of 2.0 eV, which allows for good solar spectral absorption. The abundance and nontoxicity of copper, as well as the long-term stability associated with oxides, allows for the possibility of constructing durable, long-lasting solar cells with Cu2O as the active light-absorbing component.
In this research our solar cell is comprised of vertically oriented n-type zinc oxide nanowires by MOCVD, surrounded by a film constructed from p-type cuprous oxide. We focus on the PV performance, as well as results on the chemistry of the Cu2O thinfilm, and discuss their importance and relevance to other nanoscale PV systems.
