제목 Study on property improvement method of EPDM Rubber through intercalation and exfoliation structure of Nano-clay
초록 Ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer (EPDM) rubber has been studied to replace fluorine rubber used in vehicle gasket. Nano-clay can be used to improve properties by incorporating low contents in the polymer matrix compared with traditional fillers. In this study, Nano-clay/EPDM nanocomposite were prepared with peroxide curing system. Carbon black, Nano-clay, Talc, and Zinc stearate were used for reinforcement as filler. Some EPDM modified with Maleic anhydride (MAH) for mixes well with certain Nano-clay to nanocomposite. The experimental results from X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed that EPDM intercalated the Nano-clay galleries. Mechanical properties were measured by tensile strength and elongation. Durability was characterized by measuring the recovered thickness after 25% compressed at a temperature of 120℃ and at a 336 hr (2 weeks).
