제목 Attapulgite/polyaniline nanocomposite particles synthesized by oxidative polymerization and their electro-responsive characteristics
초록 Attapulgite (ATP) clay nanocomposite particles coated with semiconducting polyaniline (PANI) were synthesized by an oxidative polymerization method. Morphology and particle size of the synthesized product were confirmed by transmission electron microscope images. Through the Fourier-transform infrared spectra and X-ray diffraction patterns of ATP/PANI nanocomposite particles, it was also confirmed that the ATP surface had been coated successfully with PANI. A rotational rheometer was used to examine rheological behavior of the ATP/PANI nanocomposite-based electrorheological (ER) fluid when the nanocomposite particles were dispersed in silicone oil. Flow curves were investigated under an applied electric field, and showed typical ER behavior. In addition, polarizability and relaxation time of the ER system obtained from the dielectric spectra were well correlated with its ER performance.
