Graphite as effective conducting agent for high performance supercapacitors |

In the work, the activated carbon (MSP-20) electrode was modified by mixing of various amount of graphite conducting agent for electrical double layer capacitors (EDLCs). MSP-20 electrode with 10 wt.% graphite conducting agent showed the highest specific capacitance of ~231 Fg-1 as compared to other conducting agents like Ketjen Black (165 Fg-1), Super-p (191 Fg-1). Cyclovoltametry (CV) plots for MSP-20 electrode with graphite (10 wt.%) expressed typical rectangular behavior with large integrated area, indicating the enhanced electrochemical properties of electrode in comparison with other graphite ratios (5 & 15 wt.%). The electrochemical impedance (EIS) measurements was confirmed that EDLC with MSP-20 and graphite (10 wt.%) electrode obtained very small charge transfer resistance and large diffusion resistance. Thus, the graphite materials could be the excellent conductive agent to improve the electrochemical and ionic properties of AC electrode for high performance EDLCs. |
