Production of Cu-Carbon Composite Powders using Electrical Explosion of Wire and their Sparkk Plsam Sintering |

In this paper, graphite-copper nanocomposites were prepared using electrical explosion process in liquid. The acid treated and non-treated graphite rods with diameter of 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm were used as raw materials. And Cu wire was also used to produced the nanosized powders. Explosion process was carried out in deionized water and ethanol with voltage in the range of 1-3 kV. The average grain size, microstructure and morphology of the graphite-Cu nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, TEM and SEM. Spark plasma sintering was used to make sinteredcomposites. Sintering was carried out at 800oC for 5 min and at a pressure of 40MPa. Powders and the sintered samples were observed by scanning electron microscope. The wear test was carried out by a pin-on-disctribometer under dry conditions at room temperature in air. Wear surfaces, microstructures and wear debris of the composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). |
