Biofouling, which is marine growth such as bacteria, barnacles and algae, is one of the main problems faced by every type of ships at the sea. We studied the electrochemical process using sodium hypochlorite as an inhibitor for preventing marine growth. We fabricated the electrolysis system with operating parameters such as the material of electrodes, potential, current density, and distance between electrodes. Efficiency of the electrochemical disinfection process was strongly dependent on these studied operating parameters. In addition, we investigated the surface properties of electrodes depending on experimental conditions through the Confocal Microscope.
