Nanotechnologies are the key tools to construct the nanostructures of functional nanomaterials for future applications. ‘Electrohydrodynamic jetting of countercharged nozzles’ (EJC) used an attraction force between negative and positive surface charges generated by electrohydrodynamic spinning and spraying. Hydrophilic silica nanoparticles were attached onto the hydrophobic surface of polystyrene (PS) electrospun fibers. The surface properties of prepared materials were tested. SiO2 nanoparticles were successfully attached onto the surface of PS fibers by EJC method. FE-SEM micrographs reveals smooth (bead free) nanofibers, and EDX measurement shows the distributions of the Si element on the surfaces of electrospun PS fibers. EJC seems to be a useful technique for the modification of surfaces, the immobilization of functional materials and the combination of two nanomaterials. References: 1) C. H.
