제목 Green synthesis of CdS nanoparticles by Andrographis paniculata leaves extract for effective environmental remediation and biomedical applications
초록 Microwave-assisted CdS nanoparticles were prepared via plant extract (Andrographis paniculata) and characterized by structural, morphological, optical, and antibacterial analysis. The results revealed a hexagonal structure of CdS nanoparticles with an average crystallite size of 21 nm. The FTIR peak at 602 cm-1 confirmed the vibration stretching of Cd-S bonds. SEM and TEM images demonstrated rod-like morphology of the nanoparticles. The optical bandgap of the prepared CdS nanoparticles was established to be equal to 2.52 eV. The photodegradation activity of the prepared nanoparticles for Rose Bengal dye was evaluated under sunlight irradiation. The degradation of the dye was equal to 98 % after 120 min. The antimicrobial activity of CdS nanoparticles investigated alongside human pathogens indicated higher antimicrobial activity against gram-positive (S. aureus) as opposed to gram-negative (E.coli, E. typhi and P. aeruginosa) bacterial strains.
