Effects of pH and surfactant ion on the morphology of heteroepitaxial ZnO nanorods synthesized in water at 90℃. |
초록 |
The effects of pH and surfactant ions on the morphology of heteroepitaxial ZnO nanostructure formed on GaN-buffered Al2O3 (0001) substrates in water at 90 oC have been investigated. ZnO crystallites were grown in solutions containing Zn(CH3COO)2․2H2O with surfactant ions such as Na-citrate with various pH, adjusted by using NH4OH, from 7.5 to 10.9. Scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction were used to investigate the structural and crystallographic properties of the ZnO crystallites. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that ZnO is a monocrystalline wurtzite structure with an epitaxial orientation relationship of ZnO crystallites grown at high pH (above ~9.5) and at low pH (~7.5) showed scattered discontinuous hexagonal rods and dense continuous films, respectively. ZnO films grown with and without Na-citrate showed very smooth and rough surface morphologies, respectively. Details on the effect of pH and citrate ions on the morphology change of ZnO grown on GaN substrates will be discussed in a view point of nucleation and growth mechanism during the hydrothermal process. |
