The lanthanoid complexes have been widely studied due to their unique luminescent properties. Since an inter- and/or intramolecular energy transfer occur from the ligands to the metal ions followed by luminescence emission, the structure of the ligands strongly influence the luminescent properties. ß-Diketonate and 1,10-phenanthroline are versatile ligands because they can form stable complexes with various lanthanide(III) ions. In this research, the europium complexes were synthesized by using 1,3,5-tris(acetoacetamido)benzene as a core ligand and a phenanthroline derivative with three alkoxy groups as a peripheral ligand. 1,3,5-Tris(acetoacetamido)benzene having three ß-diketo groups was obtained by the reaction of 1,3,5-triaminobenzene with diketene. Each heteroleptic coordination was established by one ß-diketonate and one or two phenanthroline derivatives. These europium complexes were characterized by EA, FT-IR, and their photophysical properties were investigated. |
