A convenient procedure for the syntheses of cationic surfactants has been studied. It has been improved preparation by using fatty alcohol such as dodecyl alcohol with acyl chloride. The sturctures has characteried with FT-IR and 1H-NMR, respectively. The present study aims to investigate the role of properties of cationic surfactants containing triethylamine. In addition, the surface tensions at the critical micelle concentration were between 20 and 26 mN/m and the cmc was evaluated in the ranged from 10−3 to 10−4 mol/L. The minimum areas per molecule decreases with increasing the alkyl chain length at the surfactants. The emulsion stability and foaming properties of synthesized surfactants were measured to evaluate the properties according to chain length between C10 and C16. The synthesized anionic surfactants have been tested to critical micelle concentration, emulsion stability, and foaming property. |
