제목 | Mechanical property and thermal stability of HDPE/MMT nanocomposite blown films |
초록 | Polymer/MMT nanocomposites have generated considerable interests in the past decade because the addition of a small amount of clay to the polymer matrix could produce an enhancement in mechanical properties and thermal stability. Polyethylene(PE) blown film is one of the most important polymeric products consumed today. PE film manufacturers have been aggressive in order to improve the film properties and the reduction of production cost so that they can be more competitive in the global market. HDPE/MMT nanocomposites were prepared by melt process and then their films were prepared by blown film process. HDPE-g-MAH/MMT master batch and HDPE/MMT nanocomposites were prepared by melt mixing using a twin screw extruder. The master batch was first prepared with HDPE-g-MAH and MMT in order to enhance the dispersion of MMT. HDPE/MMT nanocomposites were prepared with the mixing of HDPE and MMT or masterbatch. Nanocomposite blown films were provided by a twin screw extruder attached film blowing and take-off unit. The MMT dispersion in the nanocomposite films was characterized by transmission electron microscope(TEM). The influences of MMT on the mechanical properties and thermal stabilities of nanocomposites were investigated by universal testing machine(UTM) and thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA), respectively. TEM micrographs show that HDPE/MMT nanocomposites were exfoliated. The mechanical properties and thermal stabilities of HDPE/MMT nanocomposites were enhanced by the increment of MMT content and dispersity. Figure : TEM microscope of HDPE/MMT nanocomposites |
