제목 | CO2 heterogeneous Catalytic hydrogenation to formic acid over Ru-based catalyst: Kinetic and CFD modeling relevant for CCU applications |
초록 | CO2-derived formic acid route has drawn attention as an encouraging platform for the renewable-energy-derived hydrogen storage cycle by using formic acid as a liquid organic hydrogen carrier in addition to mitigation of CO2 emission. Ru-molecular catalyst heterogenized on a bipyridine(bpy)-terephthalonitrile (TN) mixed- CTF (covalent triazine framework)(Ru/bpyTN-CTF) system for the continuous hydrogenation of CO2 to produce formic acid in a fixed-bed reactor was proposed by K. Park et al(2020). The catalyst reveals significant catalytic performance with CO2 conversion of 44.8%. In this work we present a CFD model aimed at understanding the catalytic process of the hydrogenation of CO2 to formic acid, in a fixed-bed reactor using the specified catalyst reaction kinetics. The CFD modeling was integrated with industrial scale CCU process and further studied its environmental and economic relevance by incorporating life cycle assessment and techno-economic analysis study. |
