Wire-shaped dye-sensitized solar cells(WDSSC) are attracting a lot of attention due to the lightweight, flexibility, and broad selectivity of the electrode materials. The critical barrier to the variation of DSSCs is the liquid electrolyte, which results in its leakage and low long term stability. We tried to prepare the WDSSC using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) gel as electrolyte. Used gel electrolytes was composed of potassium iodide, iodine, PVA as polymer matrix, and N-methylpyrrolidone as polar diluent. WDSSCs were fabricated by coiling a Pt wire around a Ti wire directly. Number of TiO2 layer, thickness of the PVA gel electrolyte, and length of the Pt wire selected as variables affecting cell performance. The performances of prepared WDSSCs were analyzed by the scanning electron microscope, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, solar simulator. In J-V measurement, the WDSSC on the three-layer of TiO2 shows the power conversion efficiency of 0.59% under 100mWcm-2. |
