Recently, the growing environmental concerns for global warming and climate change have motivated research activities, such as separation, capture and storage of green house gases, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2), which will be increasingly important in the future world economy. We have prepared N-doped microporous carbons using chitosan with steam activation. The features and morphologies were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements. The microcrystalline characteristics were measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the surface characteristics were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The textural properties were analyzed by N2/77 K adsorption/desorption isotherms. The CO2 adsorption capacities were measured by TGA method at flue gas condition. From the results, we had confirmed that the CO2 adsorption capacity was strongly influenced by the certain micropore size and surface basicity. |
