Biomass have the potential to serve as a sustainable source of energy and organic carbon for our industrialized society.In this context, the development of furanic monomers from the renewable resources, such as carbohydrates, have elicited more attention than ever.We have synthesized a variety of furan-containing epoxide monomers such as monofunctional monomers, bifunctional monomers and multifunctional oligomers from the key furanic compounds which are easily accessible from adehydrative rearrangement of carbohydrates.In the preparation of these novel furanicepoxide monomers will be discussded.Research on the preparation, characterization, and polymerization behavior of other kinds of furan-containing monomers and oligomers are currently in progress and will be reported in due course. |
