제목 Prediction of the powder size distribution effect on the physical properties of Titanium GDL via GeoDict simulation tool
초록 Gas diffusion layer (GDL) is one of the key component of the PEM fuel cell which transport fluid and protect other parts of fuel cell. For making porous titanium GDL powder size has crucial effect on the physical properties of porous material. Therefore we utilize geodict software tool for the optimization of powder size. In this study we compared three different types of powder sizes that is below 25 μm, 25-35 μm and above 35 μm. For the purpose of comparison, the total volume fraction of porosity and thickness of GDL were kept constant. Based on these parameters, GeoDict simulation tool was used to predict permeability and mechanical properties of the resultant GDL. It was found that the powder size had a strong influence on the final properties. The permeability was favored by the selection of larger powder sizes whereas the better mechanical properties were obtained by the smaller sized powder. The results shown an optimization of these properties can be obtained by the use of a powder with a spread of both fine and coarse sized powders.
