In general, odorants are added to fuel gases, such as LPG, LNG and city gas, to prevent gas poisoning, ignition, explosion, or other accident caused by fuel gases, and to enable immediate and easy detection of fuel-gas leakage by emitting an offensive smell. Currently, mercaptan and sulfide additives among sulfur compound are mixed into city gas and LPG as odorants. In this study, we focused on study of sulfur free odorants for LPG based on isovaleate, acrylate and pyrazine. Human olfactory perception was used to rank samples according to 9 grades of odor quality and 6 grades of odor intensity on sulfur free odorizing agents. |
