Rheological Characterization of Stress-Induced Structural Formation of Linter Based Cellulose/NMMO•H2O Solution |

Linter-based cellulose solution was made by melting the linter-based cellulose that the weight average degree of polymerization was about 1,600 in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) with propyl gallate (PG). The stress dependent gelation behavior of linter based cellulose/NMMO•H2O solution with PG was studied with variation of temperature. Time and frequency sweep experiments were carried out in order to study the stress-dependent gelation behavior. All of the linter based cellulose/NMMO•H2O solution with PG showed stress-dependent rheological behaviors, particularly with shear rate of 10 rad/s. Test results also indicated that stress-induced gelation was affected by the temperature. Viscosity increase through the stress history indicated the promotion of gel structure with increasing temperature from 110 oC to 115 oC. |
