Fatty acid potassium cream soap, referred to as cleansing foams have a crystal gel structure. Therefore, the shear stress and stability under high temperature storage condition vary depending on the state of crystal structure. In the water/KOH/fatty acid ternary system, the effects of the mixing ratio of fatty acid, the degree of neutralization, and polyols on the crystal gel structure were investigated. And, DSC and X-ray analysis are employed as a major tool, because these analysis methods are been widely reported for phase behavior studies. When the fatty acids were mixed, a eutectic mixture could be prepared, and a crystal gel structure was formed with the most stable mixing ratio at the eutectic point. In terms of formulation properties and foam quality, the optimum degree of neutralization should be considered about 75%. And, glycerin increased the Tm and contributed greatly to the formation of stable crystal gel phase. |
