Enzyme Cocktail Design of β-agarases for Agarose hydrolysis in Ionic Liquid-pretreated Gelidium amansii |

D-galactose and 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose were successfully produced from agarose-rich G. amansii through ionic liquid (IL) pretreatment with subsequent enzyme cocktail hydrolysis. Among the ILs, [BMIM]OAc was the most effective biomass solvent (> 99% dissolution vs. 50-89% by [EMIM]Cl, [BMIM]Cl, [EMIM]OAc). Meanwhile, simplex-centroid mixture design maximized the sugar yields to 49.1% for Gal and 26.3% for 3,6-AHG using 61.5% Aga2 from C. omnivescoria and 38.5% Aga50D from S. degradans 2-40.
