Amond many technologies for heavy oil upgrading, we primarily researched on catalytic hydrocracking processes of vacuum residue (VR) and de-asphalted oil, which obtained typically by a solvent-based de-asphalting process. For catalysts screening, we have examined several bimetal catalysts, and as a result of examination, a Ni-Mo/goethite catalyst was selected and optimized. In addition to research on catalysts, we also developed a reactor for the continuous hydrocracking reaction. In general, a fixed-bed reactor was used initially to roughly estimate hydrocracking conditions, as well as to examine the decay of catalytic activity in reaction. As a result of such effort, we have engineered a continus catalyst exchanging reactor (CCER). Hydrocracking by using the catalyst and reactor proved highly efficient on heavy oil upgrading of VR and DAO. The catalytic hydracking performance of diverse reactors and catalysts was also examined. |
