제목 Gold nanostar/silicon rubber hybrid systems for flexible surface enhanced raman scattering (SERS) substrates
초록 SERS is highlighted as a fascinating analysis technique for detection of trace analyte molecules. In particular, gold and silver nanoparticles with unique surface palsmon resonances can find applications in SERS chemical sensors. The primary mechanism of SERS is based on eletromagnetic enhancement of raman scattering which arises when the analytes are within the localized regions of strong electric fields ('hot spots'). The hot spots are located on the gaps or sharp edges of metal nanostructures when the incident light excites the conduction electrons of metals. Here, we demonstrate a controlled synthesis of gold nanostar with multiple sharp edges and fabricate a flexible SERS substrate by embedding gold nanostar arrays within the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). While the normal SERS detection requires the adsorption of analytes on the SERS-active metallic nanostructures, the flexible SERS substrate enable ultra-sensitive SERS detection of analytes adsorbed on arbitrary substrates.
