Heating characteristics of N-doped graphite fibers as heating elements |

In this study, nitrogen functional groups were introduced on graphite fibers(GFs) to modify their electrical properties. Heating properties were investigated according to the treatment conditions. GFs were prepared by a thermal solid-state reaction at 200 ℃ for 2 h with different urea ratios. The surface property of nitrogen doped GFs was examined by XPS, its heating temperature and resistance were measured using thermo-graphic camera and a programmable electrometer, respectively. The XPS result showed that the nitrogen functional groups on the GFs surface was increased with increasing of urea content. Heating properties of these GFs were also improved as nitrogen functional groups introduced. The maximum temperature of GFs treated by urea was observed 53.8 ℃ at 60 V, which showed 55 % of improved heating characteristics compared to untreated GFs. |
