This research aims to prepare the foam structured Hydrogel using PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) and Chitosan. The chitosan was dissolved in acetic acid solution and then mixed with PVA solution to form high strength and toughed hydrogel. It was synthesized by chemical and physical cross- linking of both components. A small amount of cross-linking agent glutaraldehyde was added to control the strength of the film structure. PVA/chitosan hydrogel was treated with Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) to generate nanosized air bubbles and help to control interfacial energy in synthesizing foam structured hydrogel. H2O2 solution pH plays a major role in determining the size of pores. The hydrogel was characterized by using FTIR, swelling property in different pH levels, gel fraction, SEM, and optical microscope. It is applied in vast areas of application like cosmetic, drug delivery systems, and biomedical and engineering fields due to its biocompatibility and high liquid absorption capacity.
