Deformation-induced Phase Transformation of High Mn Steels during Uniaxial Loading |

In-situ neutron diffraction experiments have been performed using Residual Stress Instrument at HANARO to investigate the deformation-induced phase transformation and work hardening mechanisms during uniaxial tension of a series of high Mn steels with different carbon contents (Fe-17Mn-0.02, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5C, in wt.%). The variations of diffraction peak positions and intensities for various phases (i.e., austenite, ε-martensite, αʹ-martensite) are examined with increasing the tensile strain to monitor the partitioning of lattice strains within each constituent phase and the evolution of martensitic phases during deformation-induced transformation. The effect of carbon addition on the martensitic transformation and its influence on the work hardening behavior of the alloys are discussed. |
