Preparation and Properties of High impact polypropylene/CaCO3 Composites |

High impact polypropylene/CaCO3 Composites were prepared by melt blending with twin screw extruder. Mechanical properties were investigated tensile tests and notched Izod impact tests. The results showed that in High impact polypropylene/CaCO3 Composites, CaCO3 particles improve the impact strength of composites but the tensile strength of High impact polypropylene/CaCO3 Composites was similar to neat HIPP. The microstructure of High impact polypropylene/CaCO3 Composites was observed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It was found that CaCO3 particles were homogeneously dispersed in HIPP matrix at nanometer scale and observed the shape of CaCO3 particles. |
