제목 | Effects of Prepolymer Structure on Transmission HPDLC |
초록 | HPDLCs are dispersions of liquid crystal(LC) droplets in polymer matrix. By applying an electric field, films can be switched between translucent and transparent states. This is because, under the influence of external electric fields the molecular orientation of the LC inside the droplet occurs. Therefore, anchoring energy at the interface of the LC droplet and polymer surface has to be weaken in order to align easily LC directors. So, in our experiment we varied the length of soft segment of polyurethane acrylate to reduce the glass transition temperature(Tg) of the polymer matrix. In the polymer matrix with a low Tg, the LC can be oriented at room temperature under a lower electric field. Also, we have obtained high diffraction efficiency and resolution in our materials. The morphology of the resultant gratings was analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and Tg of the polymer matrix by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMTA). |
