A modified method for the production of different shape (spheres, cubes and octahedral) monodisperse Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles at 200℃ in the presence of ammonium acetate/potassium hydroxide have been presented. The influences of experimental parameters, such as kind of precursor and the capping agent, reacting temperature, reaction time on the shape of Fe3O4 nanoparticles were discussed. The Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles prepared were well dispersed with the face-center cubic structure and size distributions from 200-300 nm. The morphologies and sizes of as-prepared products were investigated in detail by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The magnetic properties of the product particles were measured with a Lake Shore £7300 vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The Fe3O4 nanoparticles show the superparamagnetic properties and have the magnetic saturation values of 87 emu/g, 85 emu/g, and 82 emu/g for spheres, cubes and octahedral, respectively. |
