Towards enhancing the CO2 sorption capacity and kinetics of MgO-TiO2 composites integrated with promoters |

Too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has initiated the global warming problems that are need to be addressed by the scientific community. Trapping of CO2 by using the solid sorbents has gained much attention in the recent years. In current work we report the promoter based MgO-TiO2 composite systems for high temperature CO2 sorption. Isothermal and non-isothermal tests of CO2 sorption were carried out by using the thermogravimetric method. The developed sorbents shows exceptionally high CO2 uptake at 375 oC corresponding to ~40 wt.% with improved MgO conversion(58%). Also, the MgO-TiO2 sorbents show improved kinetics due to the attained alternative pathway provided by the promoter.
