Colloidal Synthesis of AlOH Nanoparticles for Flexible, Transparent, Luminescent Polymer Nanocomposite Films |

Luminescent inorganic phosphors are widely used as wavelength converting materials for many emerging applications including displays, solar cells, and bioimaging. In this study, we demonstrate size-controlled synthesis of luminescent AlOH nanocrystals and the fabrication of transparent luminescent nanocomposite films. As-synthesized AlOH nanocrystals exhibits superior colloidal stability in non-polar solvents while exhibiting excellent photoluminescent property. The structure characterization is performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and Fourier-Transform Infrared spectrometer (FT-IR). Highly dispersible colloidal AlOH nanocrystals forms stable mixtures with ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA) polymers in the toluene. We fabricate the AlOH/EVA copolymer films and the optical and photoluminescent properties of AlOH/EVA films are tailored with varying the amount of loadings of luminescent AlOH in EVA composite films. |
